Kids Martial Arts Classes
First and foremost we pride ourselves on offering ‘Real Martial Arts & Self Defence’ training for our junior students. On countless occasions we are informed that there are no real or proper quality lessons or training for kids in Martial Arts around the area as all they seem to do is fitness fun and games.
Fitness Fun and Games is all well and good for enjoyment but not for the progression of excellence. As an established Martial Arts Organisation and Full-Time Academy we know that fun and games should only be set as a reward not for the longterm and especially not for every lesson.
Unfortunately the fun and games classes can take place within part time schools or even Full-Time academies but at MCMA we know first hand that our students are able and capable of high levels of training in order to grade to higher ranks and even compete from the ages of as young as 7yrs old.

Our students have the option to grade from white belt upwards and are tested and assessed from their overall ability to perform techniques through to their sparring in full contact format and with respect to their instructors and team.
The syllabus and criteria will be applied to their training, lessons and preparation for their grading assessments. When the students reach certain levels we encourage them to better themselves by attending the MCMA Team Leadership Programme which includes further training and guidance on how to become a more effective leader and student of Martial Arts.
The next level and often natural progression from this stage is to complete the Junior Coaching Course which offers the already exceptional student a chance to become a coach and assist Head Instructors in various disciplines and areas of training.
Within the last 15 years every Officially Qualified Junior Coach became an MCMA Instructor.
The MCMA System is a Mixed Martial Arts & Self Defence Training System designed for beginners and advanced levels offering a wide range of training methods including Krav Maga, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Japanese Ju Jitsu, Boxing, Judo, Kickboxing & Karate.
What is the difference between a Martial Arts Club, School & Academy?
Even though there’s no official or specific written description about the difference we feel there is!
- A Martial Arts Club is similar to an after school activity once or twice a week as a maximum number of classes/ tuition within a close proximity/radius.
- A Martial Arts School is a multiple class/tuition option at different hired locations using various halls, gym studios and other spaces available to teach lessons.
- A Martial Arts Academy is a single or multiple Full-Time Training Centre/s offering 7days per week access for lessons / private tuition at each academy at any location with full time coaching staff, instructors and management team.

As disappointing as it is we have a vast amount of parents and students requesting to join MCMA even after training at another club/school/academy. The usual phrase is "My Friend is a Black Belt"
We find that the usual timeframe that many instructors seem to issue children and adults black belts is 3 years or maybe 5-7 years at best. As young as 10 years old children are issued with a Black Belt within a Martial Arts discipline!
MCMA alongside many other established and authentic Martial Arts Academies in the U.K. and also around the World that we are in association with find this incredulous.
To achieve a high rank at MCMA the junior students and of course the adult students need to commit to training regularly, respect their team and achieve as we know they can at a high standard.
The MCMA grading criteria is vast and certainly earned once passed within specific levels of training.
We are transparent with our standards and what we expect from our students, as our students will be expected to study and train with commitment and dedication for a minimum of 10 years to achieve a black belt under the MCMA Martial Arts & Self Defence Organisation.
